Najib-Hadi banner fuels muktamar sabotage talk

Could PAS members not aligned to party president Abdul Hadi Awang be behind a smear campaign targetting him?

This was posed by an article in the pro-Umno portal MyKMU.net which postulated that the 'hate Umno' sentiment was being manipulated by certain quarters within PAS.

The writer of the article first pointed out that it was only natural for PAS to blame Umno for everything they do.

“This has led to the hatred of PAS members for Umno.

“Now this sentiment is being manipulated by certain quarters in PAS in their efforts to win elections to be held during the current muktamar."

The writer was commenting on a banner which purportedly sprung up in Kuala Selangor which read 'Umno welcomes PAS delegates to Kuala Selangor'.

It features Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar on the left side of the banner while PAS president Abdul Hadi's face is prominently displayed on the right.

The MyKMU.net writer expressed confidence that the banner was part of the anti-Hadi group’s strategies.

“One glance at the banner and we know that it is aimed at creating hatred against Hadi which in turn will have a bad impact on the delegates who will vote tomorrow.

“The implication is that he (Hadi) is Umno’s agent and this is the message they are trying to send (to the delegates)."

A vintage year for Hadi

Although there has been no denial from Selangor Umno leaders regarding  the banner, the writer said it was his opinion  that the banner was not  put up by anyone from Selangor Umno.

“They (the factions in PAS) are the ones adamant in conquering PAS, yet Umno is the one being victimised,” lamented the writer.

PAS is currently in the midst of its 61st muktamar.

With claims that the progressives within the party DAP’s puppet, many are predicting that the faction will be wiped-out after tomorrow's polls.

Abdul Hadi ( photo ), on the other hand, is expected to consolidate his position in the party.

Nevertheless, his latest remarks in which he expressed support for Najib to remian as prime minister, have raised eyebrows as well.

They have fuelled claims that he and Umno may be invisibly aligned especially with regards to the implementation of hudud law in Kelantan which will not see the light of day without Umno’s support.
