MACC 'names and shames' 726 for corruption

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has to date, displayed names of 726 people convicted of corruption nationwide in its database.

Deputy chief commissioner (management and professionalism) Zakaria Jaafar said this was part of its relentless fight against corruption and to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said the public could access the database initiated in 2011, in the MACC website under 'Name And Shame', adding that for this year until May, almost 100 names had been entered.

He told the media this after declaring open the MACC's new RM24.3 million office in Kuching today.

Zakaria said the names would be displayed for three years before they were replaced with new entries.
