For now, Mara chairperson Annuar Musa's lips are sealed regarding an alleged RM65 million Australian property scam.

"I can't answer that," he told Malaysiakini .

"We can't say yes or no, but tomorrow I will give an official statement," he added.

Annuar said he would be issuing the statement during a press conference at the Mara headquarters, around 10am tomorrow.

"We are quite aware of all (the allegations) [...] there are certain things that we can announce tomorrow," he added.

Separately, Mara had told Malaysiakini in an email exchange that it would be issuing an official press statement on the matter later today.

In an exclusive report today, Australian newspaper The Age claimed top Malaysian government officials and a former politician had spent RM65 million of public funds to purchase an apartment block in Melbourne, Australia, overpaying by RM13.7 million to allow for kickbacks back home.

The report also claimed the involvement of Mara, a government investment agency, which purchased the property in 2013.

The student hostel apartment bought by Mara was called the Dudley International House apartment block, located in the suburb of Caulfield.
