Two BN MPs have denied links with the alleged "plot to topple" the federal government, following the circulation of a list of 20 BN lawmakers said to be to be involved in it.

According to the BN Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) website, Gerik MP Hasbulah Osman ( photo ) and Parit Sulong MP Noraini Ahmad have denied any involvement with the alleged plot, which was first published in a blog .

Hasbulah said he was shocked that he was named among the 20.

"Last night, the prime minister officiated a meeting at my division (Gerik). It is impossible for me to invite him if I want to topple him.

"The people coming up with these allegations are very stupid," he said.

Hasbulah said he would not file a police report on the matter since he has made a public denial.

'I help BN, won't destroy it'

Meanwhile, Noraini ( photo ) said she was fully committed to BN and would not do anything to destroy the coalition and Umno.

"I am a BN person. We build BN through hard work... I am not going to destroy (the coalition). The (plot claims) are unreasonable," she said.

On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi alleged that an Umno member, who is also an MP, was masterminding a plot to "topple" the government through undemocratic means.

Zahid said the MP, in collaboration with opposition MPs, was trying to convince some BN MPs to sign statutory declarations to show that they have majority control of the Dewan Rakyat.

BNBBC chairperson Shahrir Abdul Samad ( photo ) said several of the MPs, who were named and identified in photographs, have lodged police reports against the blog.

"We want investigations to be carried out into the false news as photographs of the MPs were also included in the posting," Shahrir told The Star .

He said several affected MPs would be holding a press conference in Parliament tomorrow.

In a related development, Umno-linked Berita Harian has denied any links with the blog, which used the daily’s news clipping and masthead.

Berita Harian hopes readers are not confused with the graphics or link the contents of the blog with the newspaper. It was irresponsible for the blog operator to do so.”
