YOURSAY ‘Aren't they paying subscriptions for the upkeep of Malaysiakini?

The remake of vilification of Malaysiakini

Yap CS: I would opine that Malaysiakini has nothing to worry about because, besides being born in a baptism of fire, it has also endured a running gamut of mudslinging, threatened with destruction and monetary punishment, and yet managed to emerge with a pristine record of integrity, fair play and astute reporting.

The standards of journalism in Malaysia are upheld and safe in the capable hands of Malaysiakini today.

Peacemaker: Malaysiakini is a monument to the wise adage that the pen is mightier than the sword.

You are feared not because you have muscles to hit anybody. By speaking the truth in a timely manner, you have done sterling service to this nation and have helped uncover dark deeds of politicians, which until you arrived were varnished over by propaganda organs masquerading as newspapers.

As one who once walked the beat and later slogged at the desk, I appreciate what you are doing for this country because I sincerely believe that effective journalism is the essential fourth branch of a working democracy.

May God bless the Malaysiakini team with wisdom and courage.

Ksn: Malaysiakini , for those who are not truthful, not transparent, abuse public positions and authority for themselves, their cronies, families, truth as Malaysiakini reports is not palatable.

Things are changing for the country, the people's views, I mean. So be patient.

Turvy: For 50 years, the BN government's slogan of government has been 'keep the people stupid'. It worked with some.

They in turn became politicians or were recruited into government service to work for the politicians.

At the same time the rest of the population, together with the rest of the world, was being transformed by the broader access to higher education and the new media.

But the new era has not dawned for our 'leaders' who are consumed in their gross crimes. Hence, today, the real conflict in this nation is between thieving idiots who have chosen to remain uneducated and the rest who, through their education, can only show polite objections.

The irony is that intolerance of a portal like Malaysiakini , which, if it has done anything harmful, is only to dissipate such polite objections.

Headhunter: Why write such a lengthy article on these small circuses (such as Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin) which come at a dozen a dime?

One just has to take a good look at the faces to know what kind of shady characters these clowns are. They are like flies, very annoying and keep coming back even after you shoo them away.

True: Indeed, times have changed, people have evolved, and Malaysiakini has improved superbly. The governing politicians have become rotten. Stand tall, Malaysiakini , and be proud of your role.

Jiminy Qrikert: Encyclopedia Umnocroniesdah defines parliamentary democracy as follows - a DermaKasi form of government in which the party (coalition of goons) with the greatest amount of donations collected form the government, its leader becoming the PM even if it has won less than 50 percent of the popular votes.

Disruptive functions are exercised by members of the cabinet appointed by the PM to ensure the DermaKasi funds are insulated from any form of probes or investigation.

The parties in the majority, having won more than 50 percent of the popular votes, serve in the opposition and have a duty to solicit any form of response from an essentially brain dead PM.

Even though the PM has lost the confidence of the majority of the rakyat, it is the duty of the royalty, judiciary and all the armed forces to keep the walking dead zombie PM in power.

StraightTalk: RK Anand has summed it up very well with his closing line, "Times have changed. The people have evolved. Unfortunately, our politicians have not."

It is sad, very sad, that a good majority of our politicians, especially in the ruling coalition are nothing more than frogs in the well.

Malaysiakini , you can be fully assured that Malaysians who believe in good governance, truth and true democracy have been with you and will be with you, always.

Buttman: RK Anand, you deserve your own collection of columns (in a book). Malaysiakini will be happy to publish it, I bet!

Restless: Thank you Malaysiakini for your relentless efforts to bring forth the truth. In the process, you sharpen our political thinking and educate the nation simultaneously.

From editor to staff, you all face constant threats from the police, the home minister and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). We appreciate your unyielding spirit.

Tikusmati: Perhaps it is time to launch another donation drive for a good cause and let those in power know how it should be done correctly and how the proceeds should be used for the benefit of the nation and not for an individual or a dying party.

This will show the difference between a donation and fraud. Start small ranging from RM1 to RM10 as a base, with direct credit to a nominated bank account.

Pahatian: I would dare to say that Malaysiakini is partly funded by the Malaysian government or the PM's Department or the PM himself.
