'Chinese rally' although 100k Malays showed up?

YOURSAY ‘All Malaysians irrespective of race are only fighting for justice.’

Umno man urges counter to 'Chinese' Bersih rally

Alicescat: I thought Bersih is about clean elections, which will give us a clean government, which will in turn give us a robust economy.

When did Bersih turn into a Chinese versus Malay issue? Why can’t Umno see the corruption in front of their eyes?

Justine Gow: They said that it was a ‘Chinese’ rally even though at least 100,000 Malay Malaysians (including Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife) and many other Malaysians of different races attended it.

The latest that I heard them saying was that Bersih 4 was jealous of the success of the RM2.6 billion man in bringing together Fatah and Hamas.

All these nonsensical attacks and accusations just show that the impact of Bersih 4 in unifying Malaysians for a better Malaysia.

To the organising committee of Bersih 4, keep up the good work. All rational and thinking Malaysians appreciate it.

Anonymous_1391693662: It’s very clear that Umno is losing ground. They are trying all means to convince the Malays (bumiputeras) that they are under threat.

Now it’s up to the Malays to check all the facts and react accordingly. Do not blindly listen to these goons and screw the future of our younger generation.

As the majority of this country is Malay, there is no way non-Malays can take away their rights. To date no such thing has happened and it will not.

Jaycee: This again goes to proof that they are missing the point. But of course, this simple concept that the rakyat wants transparency and accountability for public servants is beyond the comprehension of this minority government.

So, after the Malays' street demonstration; it will open the floodgates for the Indians to have their own.

Goldee: I was once asked by my Malay friends why there was no or very little support from Chinese Malaysians in Bersih 3.

My reply to him was the majority of us do not come out to support openly does not mean we do not support the Bersih rally. We were afraid some opportunists will take advantage and turn it into a racial issue.

So my presumption all along was correct because idiots like the Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Rafii will try to turn it into a Chinese versus Malays issue.

In fact May 13 was a very unfortunate incident because someone took advantage of the situation then and turned it into a racial conflict.

Honestly, many of us were saddened and we always asked ourselves why and what had gone wrong with us Malaysians. Yet till today we have people trying to cause racial havoc. We pray that this ugly event will never happen again.

CQ Muar: In the first place, even the Chinese were surprised many Malays failed to turn up (for one reason or another) on the first day of the Bersih 4 rally. However, there were more participants on the second day.

Mohd Razlan, the Chinese's cause is clear - that this country will embrace freedom, good governance and an end to corruption so that all races, be they Malays, Chinese and Indians can be proud we have a nation of one people, without racial barriers

Once again I reiterate, the Chinese are pining for the right Malay with calibre to helm and lead this country we all love. Stop twisting and spewing nonsense, Mohd Razlan.

Appum: Umno and its leaders are pseudo-nationalists and patriots. They are practising a ‘bangsatology’ kind of political system. Their minds are so conniving and narrow they can only see things from only a racial or religious perspective. That is ‘bangsatology’.

By turning a simple, peaceful, very successfully managed rally into a racial event goes to show how shallow such our leaders, especially the Federal Territory Umno Youth chief, are.

How can our nation progress into a true multiracial society with such incumbent racist leaders?

They can condone evil, thieving, cheating, abuses (even towards their own race) by their super crooked leaders but can't tolerate a show of righteousness by others who do not accept their sins (even with their own people opposing them).

So what kind of a nation of Malaysia is Umno-BN leading us to? What kind of national principles do they advocate? Enough is enough. That’s why they fear the real ‘bersih’.

Anonymous 007: Every time where there are more Chinese, it is racial. Where there are more Malays, it is not racial.

Look at the government departments, which race dominates? Please, Umno, don't use race when you have nothing to say. It is unhealthy.

Not Confused: Mohd Razlan, are you really as dumb as you appear to be? The Bersih 4 rally was deliberately non-racial.

The fact that so many Malays did not attend is probably because of the threats and intimidation heaped upon them by your government ministers.

Banning of yellow T-shirts, deliberate refusal to approve a peaceful demonstration, the usual cries that traders would lose income, foreign investment would be affected, blah, blah, blah.

These ridiculous ploys would most probably affect the Malay population more. So therefore the non-attendance of Malays was deliberately engineered by you and your corrupt cohorts.

Now you try desperately to play the race card again, by organising a ‘Malay only’ rally. Well go ahead, of course you have the right to organise any peaceful demonstration - it is your constitutional right, even though it will be racial in nature of course.

Myop101: I thank Mohd Razlan for recognising that the people have the right to assemble freely and express their dissent in a peaceful manner.

As for the other things he said, he is entitled to his own opinion even though it is entirely wrong and misplaced because no one is asking for the constitution to be changed but rather for parliamentary democracy, citizens’ rights and clean and fair election enshrined in the constitution to be properly enforced.

Hamzah Paiman: If Mohd Razlan can give each one who attends his proposed counter-rally nothing less than RM5,000 each, everyone will attend.

And ensure you give that amount up-front, please.
