The Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) will not hold a demonstration in front of the China embassy to protest the ambassador’s statement, as reported by Harian Metro today.

PPIM board of advisers chairperson Tunku Azwil Tunku Abdul Razak said there have been too many demonstrations held in Malaysia as it is.

“No, no we aren’t going to do that (demonstrate in front of the China embassy). We only wanted to hold a press conference on the matter.

“The report is wrong. I was misquoted. Too many demonstrations are just a headache,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.

Harian Metro repoted that PPIM will hold a demonstration to protest ambassador Huang Huikang’s remarks during a visit to Petaling Street last Friday, on the eve of a later-cancelled rally there by Malay groups.

Huang had expressed hope that Malaysia’s stability will persist, and that while China does not intervene in domestic affairs, it will not sit idly if it affects China’s interests.

This prompted criticism from Umno and Perkasa, in what appears to be a diplomatic flap.

Wisma Putra also called Huang for a meeting to explain his remarks, which Huang said was "misinterpreted".
