The new Public Accounts Committee will continue its predecessor's investigation into 1MDB, including calling its chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy and former head Shahrul Halmi.

However, questioning business tycoon Jho Low is not a priority, said PAC chief Hasan Arifin.

"We will put him as a person we should call but it's not immediate," he said.

He was speaking at a press conference after the PAC's first meeting since July.

Low is alleged to be the brains behind 1MDB, an association he denies.

Hasan also said no date has been set yet as to when Arul Kanda and Shahrul will be summoned.

"We will determine a date as soon as possible," he said.

Previously, Arul Kanda and Shahrul were scheduled to meet the PAC in early August.

Auditor-general's report

The meeting was, however, derailed after five BN members on the PAC - including then chief Nur Jazlan Mohamad - were appointed to the cabinet in late July.

Meanwhile, Hasan said the new PAC members were today briefed on the auditor-general's interim report on 1MDB to bring them up to date.

He said the full report was expected to be completed by year-end.
