It's confirmed, Dewan Negara a rubber stamp

YOURSAY | ‘This is an admission by Chia that he is nothing more than a paper pusher.’

'Only Agong qualified to declare place security area'

Prudent: The additional powers given to the PM in the new NSC (National Security Council) bill is too dangerous.

Remember Adolf Hitler, who was already a dictator with dictatorial powers, under the aging and increasingly senile German president Paul von Hindenburg. He was 84 when he appointed Hitler as chancellor.

The powers of the president over Hitler failed to stop the Nazi leader from consolidating his dictatorial hold over Germany.

Hitler ordered the 'night of the long knives' in June 1934 when Hindenberg was still alive (he died in August 1934) in which he eliminated 6,000 of his purported enemies, mainly those he deemed to be a hindrance to his push for total dictatorial powers.

The NSC likewise bill gave the PM powers to eliminate his enemies without oversight or accountability. And his victims have no recourse to the law if the judiciary is satisfied that the security forces have acted 'in good faith', not even a coroner's inquiry.

And remember the Agong has to take the 'advice' of the PM.

Yellowhero: What happened to the Islamic NGOs that would be frothing in their mouths over race, religion and royalty?

Why are they not voicing their concerns over the stripping of Agong's power as provided in the Federal Constitution?

Saya Pun Nak Cari Makan: Right, only the Agong has the power to declare a place a security area. Enough of taking away the power of the rulers. It is indeed a show of disrespect for the king if this remaining power is snatched away.

Umno always claims that the Agong is a symbol of Malay dignity and it would defend the monarchy. Is it for real?

Taking away this residual power away from the king proves that Umno is purely paying lip service to defending the royalty.

Democracy: "I see that we can support the bill fully, given that Dewan Rakyat has passed the bill. This bill does not contravene the Federal Constitution,” senator Chia Soong Cheng said in his debate.

This is clear an admission by Chia that he is nothing more than a rubber stamp. He does not seem to know why he is a senator.

Rakyat Kingfisher: Those who vote for, and those who voted their representatives to support this bill, their children and grandchildren will curse you.

This bill will commence the dark ages in Malaysia as too much power is put into the hands of the PM - one person that even our rulers cannot override.

Based on the past and current behaviour of our current PM, he will use this bill to establish himself, as he knows the very day he steps down or quit from this office, he will most likely go to jail.

Stop living in denial, Raja Petra

Proarte: Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) is a hack who is currently being financed to serve Umno's agenda. This explains his nonsensical line of arguments which often follow a Biro Tatanegara (BTN) script.

Raja Petra is choosing to be ignorant about the historical development of Christianity and Judaism. Indeed, these religions have gone through 'reformations' and this is a constantly evolving process.

Christianity cannot be defined by Raja Petra's quotations from the Old and New Testament. The practice of Christianity varies from country to country, sect to sect and individual to individual.

The Bible does not claim to be the 'literal and exact' word of God as the Quran claims to be, and which is what Muslims believe. Instead, the Bible is generally believed by Christians and Jews today to be a human document inspired by God.

As such, human intelligence and evolutionary changes of thought and human understanding inform the practice of Christianity and Judaism in the 21st century.

KSD: I'm just an ordinary person who would like RPK to respond to claims by Sarawak Report .

They questioned him as to how he was able to afford a new BMW. They also said he was involved in schemes to spy on emails.

Heck, even carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan claims he once gave him a notebook as a 'gift'. Sure, he writes well. But most of what he says is based on psychological warfare, not necessarily the truth.

Vijay47: You write well, Raja Petra, and I used to admire your pieces, admittedly also because you were thrashing a common enemy.

But now you have crossed over to the dark side which surely must be your right. Yet when you adopt a consistent stance diametrically opposite to your previous one, when your present writings are devoid of logic or intelligence, when you begin to support the very forces you once could not stop condemning, then just as surely you lose your credibility and destroy your self-respect.

One cannot understand the cause of this radical change and for me to attribute it to the misfortunes of your son would be to delve in waters I know nothing about.

Perhaps you deserve our pity, how degrading it must be for you, now nothing more than an abject mercenary, to wallow in slush with the same criminal shameless rabble you previously allegedly avoided.

But to render a compliment where compliments are due, I would say you are one of the better cybertroopers.
