Kuala Lumpur Mayor Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz was today slammed for not consulting residents at Taman Metropolitan Batu where he has proposed legalised motorcycle races.

Interestingly, the proposed circuit will pass by DAP Segambut parliamentarian Lim Lip Eng's residence.

Lim said his house at Taman Mastiara was in the vincinity of Taman Metropolitan Batu.

The local authority may want to seek revenge for his opposition on street races, he claimed.

Lim was among the first to oppose Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor's suggestion for City Hall to provide a location for legalised Mat Rempit (street motorcycle racers) racing.

"The Mayor immediately suggested (that the circuit) be located here (at Taman Mastiara). It will pass by in front of my house gate."

"I don't know whether City Hall intentionally suggested that the races be organised in front of my house," Lim said, eliciting laughter from the reporters present at his press conference in Selayang this morning.

Not polled local opinion

On a more serious note, Lim said City Hall had not polled local opinion on the proposed track at the housing area.

"Before I came (for today's press conference), I asked 10 neighbours on the matter. They were all against it.

"I want to ask City Hall, did you do a poll before you went ahead with your suggestion?" asked Lim.

He said he will raise the issue with Tengku Adnan who will meet parliamentarians from the federal territories next Tuesday.

According to a Malay Mail report, Mohd Amin had suggested a two-kilometre pothole-free stretch between Taman Metropolitan Batu and Jalan Batu Muda for the races.

This Tengku Adnan revealed plans to organise the motorcycle races to allow Mat Rempit to 'hone their skills'.

The report said many local residents were in dark about the proposal and were against any such move.
