PARLIAMENT The auditor-general's report on 1MDB cannot be tabled at this parliament session because the document has not been declassified, said Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

"I was told by the auditor-general (Amrin Buang) himself that the report has yet to be declassified," he told the House.

Pandikar was responding to R Sivarasa (PKR-Subang), who insisted that the report should be presented together with the Public Accounts Committee's report on 1MDB.

"I cannot allow a classified document to be tabled in the House. I will be violating the Official Secrets Act 1972 if I allow it," said the speaker.

The auditor-general report on 1MDB was submitted to PAC on March 4. The latter tabled its report on the matter today, which is the last day of this parliament session.

Meanwhile, auditor-general Amrin Buang, who appeared at Parliament this morning, refused to answer why the report has yet to be declassified.

On March 6, PAC chief Hasan Arifin said the report would be declassified once PAC's report on 1MDB is tabled in Parliament.

"PAC wishes to stress that the final report would only be declassified (under OSA) after PAC submits its report on the 1MDB probe.

"The auditor-general had explained that the final report of 1MDB will no longer be a classified document under OSA once PAC tables its 1MDB report," he said.

PAC member William Leong had earlier insisted that the auditor-general report should be tabled simultaneously with PAC's report on 1MDB.
