Rafizi to submit proof on ‘cash, women’ claim to PKR president

PKR secretary-general Rafiz Ramli said he will submit to the party president all evidence he has on claims that bribes of cash and “women” were asked of those wanting to strike deals with the PKR-led Selangor government.

This comes after PKR deputy president and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said the state cannot probe because the claim was made without any proof.

“I will surrender all evidence to the party president and will wait for the party’s decision on this before deciding whether to report the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision,” Bernama reported him as saying at the Parliament lobby today.

Rafizi has told the WhatsApp group ‘Solidarity for Anwar’ that he had received a complaint from a “bona fide” source that cash and “women” were asked as bribes from those wanting to deal with the state government.

He later confirmed that he had sent the leaked WhatsApp message, and that he received the complaint in his capacity as executive director of National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre.

He said NOW will do the usual checks on the veracity of the complaint, and regretted that the message was made public.

He said the complaint was not against an elected representative or a government employee.

Azmin, however, said it was part of a “systematic smear campaign” which maligns innocent bureaucrats.
