The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has found no element of graft in the pendrive provided by the Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

This is despite claims by the crown prince that the pendrive contains documents detailing graft within the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

“After studying the contents of the pendrive handed over by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar on Sept 2, it was found to have no element of graft, as defined under the MACC Act 2009.

“Following this, the MACC will forward a report of the investigation to the FAM soon for improvement and further action, especially regarding the technical issues raised,” MACC investigations director Azam Baki said in a statement today.

Azam did not elaborate on the contents of the pendrive or the MACC’s findings.

“The MACC is prepared to cooperate with the FAM and any parties in the matter to discuss any arising issues, if it involves corruption,” he said.

Tunku Ismail handed the pendrive to Khairy on Aug 26, who then passed it on to the MACC last Friday after studying the documents.

Khairy had said last week that the pendrive contained 279 pages of documents, which describe various technical aspects of football and the development of the sport in Malaysia.

He had urged the MACC to make the documents public, since it has become a matter of public interest. Khairy also said he would also discuss the matters raised in the pendrive with the MACC.
