Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said he would make an announcement regarding the pendrive handed to him by Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim by Friday.

He said he is still studying the contents of the pendrive, which Tunku Ismail had alleged contains documents detailing graft within the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

“The document pertains to technical issues about football, not just graft. Even then, I’m still looking for it (graft) is mentioned since it is a technical document [...]

“Anyway, I will address this issue soon. By Friday, I will,” he said.

Khairy said the document touch on issues such as the development of women’s and futsal teams, regarding training programmes, and the national football teams’ playing style, which don’t necessarily have to do with corruption.

He reiterated that once he finds signs of graft, he would hand the documents over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

But first, he said he has to study the documents so that he would at least be able to explain them to whoever he hands it to.

“Otherwise the MACC would laugh at me saying, ‘Why are you giving these documents to us?’” he said.

Khairy was handed the pendrive on Aug 26, less than a week ago.

He had previously said that the pendrive contained 279 pages of documents, and vowed that there would be no cover-up if there is found to be wrongdoing.
