Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today handed over a pendrive, said to contain information on alleged corruption in the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The pendrive is from Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who handed it over to Khairy on Aug 26.

Khairy said he has asked the MACC to release the information contained in the pendrive after its investigation, if the matter is to be investigated.

"I suggested to MACC, as it has now become an issue of public interest, that the contents of the pendrive should be made public.

"After the investigations are completed, maybe (MACC) can make the contents public," Khairy told reporters after handing over the pendrive to the MACC at its headquarters in Putrajaya today.

Now that the pendrive is in the hands of the MACC, Khairy said, it is up to the anti-graft commission to investigate and decide whether there is evidence of corruption in its contents.

He said he had handed over the pendrive and a 280-page hard copy version of its contents to MACC investigations director Azam Baki.

He also told the MACC to check that the pendrive had not been tampered with since Tunku Ismail had given it to him. 

"TMJ said he doesn't want (to be in) possession of the pendrive anymore, gave it to me and told me to look through it and to do what I want with it," he said. 

The pendrive also contained many technical recommendations for FAM, which Khairy said he would discuss with the association soon.

The detailed contents of the pendrive remain a mystery, but Tunku Ismail previously claimed that he had evidence of FAM's wrongdoing. 

Meanwhile, Khairy declined to comment when asked about Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan's admission yesterday that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is 'Malaysian Official 1'.

Malaysian Official 1 was mentioned 36 times in the US Department of Justice's civil complaint to seize assets worth US$1 billion, allegedly purchased with funds stolen from 1MDB.

Some US$731 million was allegedly siphoned from 1MDB and transferred into a bank account owned by the unnamed Malaysian Official 1.
