Concerned: It is alarming that the MP concerned, Mohd Said Yusof (BN-Jasin), can even think that what he said was not an abuse of his power. He is as entitled to the protection of, just as much as he is eligible to be prosecuted under the same law, as any other citizen of Malaysia.

It is shocking that he can even consider asking the authorities concerned to break the law of the country; which 'close one eye' amounts to, and having the audacity to claim that he was not 'abusing' his power. Does he think that; as a MP, he is above the law? People like him are the ones who have tarnished the reputation of Malaysia due to the level of corruption that is rampant in Malaysia.

If Pak Lah is trying to stem out corruption and Mohd Said is encouraging it, then the prime minister has no option but to immediately dismiss him from the office he holds. If he is not dismissed; especially as he has admitted his guilt, then he obviously holds more power than the prime minister himself!

All law abiding ministers and the opposition should now jointly call for Mohd Said's immediate dismissal as he not only encourages corrupt practices and is against the government anti-corruption policy but is also stupid for publicly admitting his acceptance of corruption. The country can do with one less stupid MP.

Case closed. He has admitted his guilt to opposing the policy of stopping corrupt practices as set by the prime minister, the government and our country, Malaysia!

When there is a motion to vote in the US Senate there is no division between Democrats and Republicans. Their vote will be always based on fact and figures. Fuad: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz said, "...we don't support a motion tabled by the opposition." I can see only one reason, why Nazri said what he said. Why else can we get an MP who brought in to the august House the issue of his daughter having to put on the tudung in school? It was probably to him a 'national problem'. Corruption? Nahhhhhh!

The Bystander: It would be extremely interesting to note what would evolve if the opposition were to table a motion supporting certain policies of the prime minister. Would the BN parliamentarians be forced to vote against it en bloc? Totally against their conscience? Or would they be expected to think first (God forbid)?

Maslino: Kudos to Shahrir for standing up in principle over the 'lose one eye' episode. Now that the motion is rejected, I am waiting to see whether or not that it will be investigated by the authorities (police and ACA). If Anwar spent years behind bars for obstructing a government servant from discharging his duties, what type of punishment that this 'taiko' is going to receive? Dr Chris Anthony: History is being created today by this group of brave parliamentarians of the BBC. For the very first time our BN MPs have shown courage to speak up for the rakyat whom they represent. They have shown they are loyal to the people who elected them and not their political masters.

If only this government can score victory over the rising number of drug addicts (we were told an average 60 drug addicts are detected daily nationwide, or a grand total of 235,000 drug users). Or the large number of young criminals in the country, with an average of 20 vehicles stolen daily. Or 2,555 suicide cases yearly and 61,486 HIV infections and increasing. Also environmental damage to some 378 rivers due to illegal logging and other mismanagement of natural resources. Or why three-quarters of urban Malaysians live behind steel gates and barrier grills? Or every six minutes, one person is hospitalised due to road accidents.

Give UP: I am really discourage by what Jais has said. I will now think twice when I offer any aid to the needy, whether they be Muslim individuals or organisations which gives help to all irrespective of race or religion, lest I be accused of influencing persons of another faith.
