The Malaysian Gurdwaras Council which is the umbrella body of the Gurdwaras in Malaysia, is greatly disturbed at the many false facts stated about the Sikh religion in Ahmad Iqram Mohamad Noor’s book titled ‘Yahudi, Kristian, Hindu dan Buddha berasal daripada Islam’ in chapter 10 of the book. This narrow and biased writing about the Sikh religion has caused anger among the Sikh community.

We refer to your comments in the Malay Mail on Nov 25, 2016, to the effect that the proposed bill by PAS president Abdul Haid Awang only deals with enhanced punishments and has nothing to do with implementing hudud

The Malaysian Gurdwaras Council (MGC), welcomes the statement by UTM’s vice-chancellor Prof Dr Wahid Omar regarding the finding by the Indian civilisation independent expert committee that the reference materials used by UTM lecturer under probe in the controversial slides for the ‘Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia’ (Titas) do not have credibility and are not authentic to represent the traditions and religious beliefs of the Sikhs and Hindus.

Representatives from the Malaysian Gurdwaras Council led by its president Jagir Singh and representatives from Malaysian Hindu Sangam led by its president Mohan Shan met with the Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh this morning at about 11.45am at the minister’s office.

The Malaysian Gurdwaras Council (MGC), which is the umbrella national body of all the Sikh Gurdwaras in Malaysia, is disturbed at the trend in the country to put down religions other than Islam. This trend can be seen developing in the numerous cases in the last 20 years where non-Muslim religions have been put-down.
