Gov't willingly disclosed PKFZ matter? C'mon...

I was a bit flabbergasted the other day after reading a statement purportedly issued by Citizen Nades in The Star . After forcing the truth down the government’s throat, does R Nadeswaran really believe the Port Klang Free Zone fiasco was willingly disclosed by the BN government or they were forced to do it after being exposed and found no other safer exit?

Can we really take it seriously that the government is seriously going after the perpetrators who generously dug their hands into taxpayers’ money? If so, do we expect the thousands of others from all over the country who ‘dipped their hands in the cookie jar’ to be similarly pursued?

We know Nadeswaran played a very crucial role in raising and exposing the PKFZ issue from day one. But so quickly he would end up believing that the government has seriously taken a new approach to beat graft. This is a little farfetched.

What is happening is that the worms are out in the open and the can cannot be closed anymore. If MCA president Ong Tee Keat does not pursue the perpetrators and defend MCA, the ‘mother of all scandals’ would definitely bring down ministers and the MCA down for good.

Anyway the whole cabinet must be taken to task and be held responsible especially the prime minister because while the scandal was taking place, the ministers and the prime minister himself outrightly denied it.

They, in fact, but refused to take action when DAP leader Ronnie Liu made in all four police reports on the issue and opposition leader Lim Kit Siang raised them repeatedly in Parliament. How did the BN government react?

When all the rules in the book were trampled upon even against the recommendations of the Registrar of Companies and audit committees, when land that could be acquired at RM2.80 was acquired by the so called‘willing buyer and willing seller’ arrangement at RM25 per square foot, the transport minister never bothered and the mainstream media blacked it out.

The minister would obediently issue guarantees whenever asked knowing fully well that it was illegal and that the Port Klang Authority would never be able to financially support the project. Neither was it viable.

There were so many hands in the cookie jar and the government looked the other way. How the financial arrangements was given ‘Triple ‘A’ ratings by the rating agencies is yet another mind- blowing phenomena.

Does Nadeswaran really believe the BN government is serious is tackling graft? It is a good joke alright but, my friend, nobody is laughing.
