I am writing in response to your story " Still no cure for MCA bellyache ".
It is no surprise that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's effort to solve the MCA crisis has stumbled upon another deadlock.
Both the prime minister and his deputy have expended a lot of effort to help MCA but it seems that Liow's faction is asking too much.
They are the smallest of the factions but they intend to monopolise power. They are being unreasonable, confusing the public and other members on many issues.
First, they appeared insincere and misinformed BN leaders on the latest developments pertaining to the MCA crisis.
Secondly, they have managed to dramatise the scenario by weeping openly over a small issue.
Thirdly, they have agitated the whole community by dragging leaders of Hua Zong and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry into the fray.
Fourth, they started an open rebellion by calling for fresh elections with the proper party mandate.
Fifth, they inflated the attendance numbers of the Nov 28 briefing to 1193 people when only 547 attended.
Sixth, they keep harping on fresh elections without caring for the opinion of the central committee majority.
Seventh, they practise double standards by calling for fresh elections yet refusing to have the youth chief and wanita chief resign along with the rest of the central committee.
The MCA crisis will not be solved until the Liow faction withdraws its excessive demands in calling for fresh elections in 60 days.
Whether or not MCA should see another round of central elections after merely one year, boils down to a basic agreement among warring parties, not singlehandedly dictated by any single faction.
The more Liow's faction insists on their so-called ‘integrity and dignity’ campaign, the longer MCA will suffer in silence and in open.
It took Dr Mahathir Mohamad 22 months to bring MCA back to normalcy. The current MCA crisis is only three months old, let's see how long it will drag on.
