PAS leaders, especially Terengganu Menteri Besar Abdul Hadi Awang's penchant for making declarations and sweeping statements like Islam guarantees equality, etc. without actually making his case is bewildering. Other statements including how hudud law is justice for all, etc., without actual proof or real logic is incredibly astounding.

Our so-called Islamic leaders say that non-Muslims in this country does not understand Islam and that is why they oppose Islamic state and laws.

My answer is simple — I should have to understand Islam but I do not read the Quran, so it is all the more important that they show me evidence which must be absolute and not anecdotal that it will work. In other words, forget about the glory of Islamic past — I could not care less.

Show me comprehensively how it has worked and how the logic is straightforward. The onus on Islamic state advocates is to prove it first and foremost. Not for us to trust them first. To put it simply: show me the money...

If any system of government or statute is going to work, the mechanics of which it is going to work must be simple and straightforward to understand. If the everyday man has to delve deeply into the intricacies and subtleties of Islam, then I say it will never work.

Saying Islam is fair and just to all without actually proving how is just smoke and mirrors — in other words, an illusion. The communists made the same error, we should never even come near that.
