I am really saddened by the death of the Iranian asylum seeker, Gulam Hassan Anwari, outside the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' (UNHCR) building in Bukit Petaling.

But at the same time I am really ashamed of our journalists who were warned of the impending self-immolation and yet, as I see it, no one did anything to prevent the tragedy.

Instead of arming themselves with fire extinguishers to the UNHCR, they were prepared with cameras to capture the event.

This really sickens me. While I agree that journalists have a job to bring profit to their newspapers, they must know that where life and death is involved, newspaper profits is no more the consideration.

As such, in protest of such action, I am not going to buy those newspapers who chose to publish the 'unsightly' pictures for at least a week.
