Amir Hamzah Amha stated in his letter that Muslims are not permitted to be in nightclubs. But I have no idea of any law which states this.
If there is indeed such a law, then perhaps all Muslims including VIPs and VVIPs, should be barred from patronising these places. And of course, let's not forget the numbers betting outlets through which the government is earning lots of tax money.
Once the extremists obtain control over Muslim behaviour, there will come a day when they decide that non-Muslims too may not engage in certain practises and beliefs due to their 'negative influences'.
The dominoes will continue to fall until such a time when both Muslims and non-Muslims will only be allowed Islam-sanctioned activities.
Amir wishes to have only Muslims in arguments involving Islamic matters. If so, then he must engage those whose thinking are of the modern era and whose grasp of the religion is solid.
One example would be Sisters In Islam whose many arguments on Islam in Malaysia have yet to be rebutted eloquently.
