I refer to the letter DAP youth elections: All not right on the just concluded elections.

I have been a strong supporter of malaysiakini since its inception and I have always believed that its 'Letters to the editor' forum is the best place for Malaysians to speak up on issues of public interest.

However, I am saddened and disappointed that the editor has allowed some people with personal interest to use this forum as a mean to send political 'poison pen' letters or 'surat layang'.

I am fully supportive of the media reporting the truth but allowing such wild allegations to be published without any solid evidence will only tarnish the credibility of malaysiakini .

I must stress that I am not suggesting that Dapsy members have no freedom to criticise but it must be a genuine criticism with solid proof.

The so-called 'irregularities' alleged by the writer of the letter has no credibility at all. He or she he did not even dare to state his or her identity and which division he or she belongs to. This person may not be a Dapsy member in the first place.

He alleged: 'As a young member, I see there are many irregularities. For instance, I am being thrown out as a delegate but there are others who have been co-opted to be delegates though they haven't attended any divisional meeting.'

I suggest this 'member' to contact me directly to tell me which division has thrown him out and who are the 'others' who have been co-opted to be delegates. I will give my personal attention to this matter if there is a formal complaint. For the record, the Dapsy secretariat has never received any complaints on such a matter.

The writer is Dapsy national secretary.
