LETTER | The new government of Malaysia is reaping the benefit of advertisements in globally reputed media to publicise the nation's determined hopes.

Bloomberg, CNN, The Economist, Fortune, The New York Times, Nikkei Shimbun, China's Economic Observer and Times USA - all of these print and electronic media will be featuring paid advertisements with "Malaysia: Bouncing Back Even Better than Before" campaign content.

This effort is timed strategically to coincide with our nonagenarian PM, Dr Mahathir Mohamad's working visit to several nations.

This image-building and enhancement efforts are praiseworthy. It certainly serves well in winning the trust and hope of international business communities and governments around the world.

After the colossal damage which had seeped into the very foundations of nationhood, a tide that still seems not to have subsided completely, the Pakatan Harapan leadership deserves commendation for this communication exercise executed with private sector funds.

Perhaps if it is not too much an asking, our local media should see it a noble corporate social responsibility to carry these advertisements in their respective pages or over airtime as a service to Malaysians.

Such an effort will also help convey to Malaysians the obligation that they, too, must share in helping the nation to "bounce back".

In particular, the local business community of leaders who also have global interests must recognise their categorical role in making the Malaysian business turf reformed with improving standards of ethics.

The civil service must recognise that they have a symbiotic role in ensuring that what we advertise to the global community is rightly supported by policies and practices that integrate and spur business interests.

The ordinary Malaysians need to be proud of these efforts taken and the pregnant need to rebuild Malaysia with the right attitudes.

Hence, given these benefits to Malaysia and Malaysians, hopefully, our local media will share these messages of "Malaysia: Bouncing Back Even Better than Before" by reproducing these advertisements.
