I am really astonished to read the statement by the Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Ahmad recently that "anybody can make a complaint against judges or conduct of the judges but you have to remember that conduct of judges cannot be discussed in an open forum"

I beg to differ.

We are reaching almost 49 years of independence and we need every citizen in whatever capacity to be accountable for their actions, in line with our Vision 2020. We need to transform ourselves in this new era where information - whether good or bad - is transmitted without any barriers (Internet era).

One needs to realise that only through criticism, will we realise our faults and correct them. The time has come for Parliament to amend one-sided laws to make them to be in line with current times.

We need judges of whatever rank to be answerable and accountable for their actions, as they are the pillars of justice.
