LETTER | Wise move to have Muhyiddin lead NRC

LETTER | It was certainly good news for many to hear that former premier Muhyiddin Yassin is back to lead the National Recovery Council (NRC).

Unlike those critics who are mostly keyboard warriors with limited knowledge of anything, most Malaysians realise that Muhyiddin is certainly the best man for the job.

We must not forget that Muhyiddin became prime minister at a very critical time and was immediately thrown into the deep end to battle the raging Covid-19 pandemic.

It was something new altogether and no leader in the world knew exactly what they were facing.

Muhyiddin hardly even had time to settle down when he was faced with numerous challenges, from the pandemic to the economic destruction that came with it.

He was left with the task of juggling the pandemic, the national economy, people's welfare, ailing businesses and so forth.

There was not a single day during his tenure that he was not faced with challenges.

Not to mention some uncooperative and selfish Umno members who as usual were only bent on saving themselves from landing behind bars.

Even a child realises that all that fuss kicked up by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was aimed at nothing, but his own personal self-interests of not wanting to end up in jail.

He, along with fellow party colleague Najib Abdul Razak, certainly did not care about the rakyat as so claimed, but merely themselves.

Soon after taking office, Muhyiddin immediately got down to work and initiated the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) which is now showing results.

There was no instant remedy to the pandemic and it cannot be now denied that the NIP was surely the right decision. Mass vaccination was the only way to go, and Muhyiddin realised this.

Soon after that, the National Recovery Plan (NRP) was introduced and not to mention the loads of government aid which was rolled out for people like us.

If not for this aid and the move to allow Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals, I doubt families like mine would have seen the light of day.

So, in consideration of all this, I am greatly convinced that Muhyiddin is certainly the right person to see the NRP through.

He has the knowledge, experience and know-how to ensure the NRP is successfully completed and benefits all Malaysians.

Throughout all these challenges, not to mention his personal issues, Muhyiddin continued to remain calm and was focused on what he had set out to achieve.

People like us felt confident with him around and greatly welcome his return.

With him back in the cabinet, we are confident we will be able to make it through these tough times and on the road to full recovery.

It is time for people like Zahid, Najib and the opposition to keep quiet and do their part to help the people.

They should realise that the more unnecessary noise they make, the more annoyed and upset the people become.

We admire Muhyiddin because he was always quiet and focused. He was a person of action, not just empty talk.

He was never a politician who would go around claiming the rakyat needed him, as some have done.

He knew he was here to serve and that is what he did. He worked quietly for the people and this is what we admire and want.

Thank you Muhyiddin and welcome back.
