After spending millions for their re-branding exercise, TMNet or Telekom has basically still remain the same in terms of its service and management. Little has changed since its privatisation and the recent refurbishment of the Kedai Telekom offices.

Paying our Telekom bills is such a hassle. It is not uncommon to wait an hour or more just to pay your bills. I have personally experienced such poor service in Kota Bharu and Seremban. Payment and receipt of cash is the lifeblood of any private enterprise but with TMNet, you experience a certain lackadaisical attitude which means you have to wait in a long queue if you want to pay them.

The trouble with TMNet and its contemporary partner Tenaga Nasional Bhd, is that the workers and management teams are the same people prior to their privatisation. They still adopt the same work culture and 'tidak apa' attitude. Their work ethic has remained the same despite the transformation to a private entity.

TMNet and Tenaga Nasional have to overhaul their work culture if they wish to remain relevant and competitive. Fortunately for these two private enterprises, they are a virtual monopoly in their respective fields and therefore can afford the luxury of complacency.
