The lawyer for former Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim denied claims that his client asked to appear in court in lock-up uniform, saying Abdul Azeez reserves the right to take legal action against those spreading this “false narrative”.
The MACC’s claim that Abdul Azeez made that request and lawyer Amer Hamzah Arshad’s denial come amid debates on how detainees should be handled when presented in public for court appearances./file/attachments/orphans/azeez3123_784659.jpg)
Amer Hamzah told Malaysiakini that his client was initially allowed to wear normal clothing before being taken out of the police lock-up, but was later ordered to change into the purple police lock-up uniform in accordance with police standard operating procedures.
He said Abdul Azeez remained under the police’s custody the entire time, which was why he was wearing the lock-up uniform and handcuffs belonging to the police, not the MACC.

The MACC has been granted an extension of the remand order against a former official of the subsidiary of a federal statutory body, as part of investigations into alleged wrongdoing involving Felda and its subsidiary, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).
The former CEO was arrested last Sunday, and his original remand expired today. The extension allows MACC to detain him until Sept 13 to facilitate investigations, Bernama reported.
The MACC had opened seven investigation papers on alleged misappropriation, abuse of power, and corruption involving Felda and FIC.

We all keep wondering why Bossku is always exempt from the purple suit.
Malaysia is so riddled with corruption. Makes me sick.
Nice to see Azeez in proper attire. Next I will to see our beloved Bossku be in his proper attire as well!
