I refer to the letter Our foreign policy is religiously biased . In my opinion, Malaysia's foreign policy is not actually favourable to Muslims as the writer seems to preach but is actually favourable to the Judeo-Christian world order.

Malaysia's decision to send peacekeepers to East Timor was actually frowned upon by most Muslims in Malaysia yet the Malaysian government still went ahead. On Nov 9,1996, angry crowds of Malaysians disrupted the Asia-Pacific Conference on East Timor ( Apcet II ) meeting held at the Asia Hotel. Yet their anger fell on deaf ears as the Malaysian government continued to support East Timor's bid for independence.

The East Timor issue angered Muslims because it showcased obvious double standards within the UN member countries - especially the US and Europe - in supporting East Timor's independence by threatening sanctions against the Indonesian government while providing military assistance to brutally suppress the Muslim independence movement on the island of Jolo.

Then, Malaysia again offered to send peacekeepers to Lebanon after Israel's bombardment of that country. The concept of peacekeeping in Lebanon is perceived as being favourable to Israel and the US while being demeaning and humiliating to the South Lebanese population.

Under the UN charter, peacekeepers are sent to nations where civil war has been identified. The situation in Lebanon was one of a foreign illegal invasion. Thus the proper remedy was to demand an unconditional withdrawal of all Israeli troops from Lebanon and require Israel to pay war reparations for the loss of life and damage to infrastructure which it caused.

The offer of peacekeepers to Lebanon by Malaysia and Indonesia was in reality a show of support towards the foreign policies of George Bush and the US administration.

Perhaps the most damning evidence of Malaysia's bias against Islam and support for the Judeo-Christian world order occurred on Nov 29,1990 when Malaysia voted in favour of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 678 authorising the use of 'all necessary means' (a euphemism for war) against Iraq.

Despite the fact that the other Muslim country on the UNSC, Yemen, voted against the resolution, Malaysia still voted for the resolution. The subsequent bombardment of Iraq by the US which was supported by Malaysia (which voted for resolution 678) resulted in the deaths of around 100,000 Iraqis, including women and children. This is clear and unequivocal proof that Muslims in Malaysia have lost their voice.

Which is why the Malaysian government has come up with the concept of 'Islam Hadhari' in an effort to dupe Muslims into believing that Malaysia is an Islamic country. A bona-fide Islamic country is one which has a foreign policy that is just and fair to all of humanity. Not a foreign policy that depends on the stewardship of the rich and powerful and is willing to authorise the ravaging of a weak and defenceless nation.
