LETTER | Referring to the press statement from Parti Solidariti Tanahairku’s (Star) Women chief Kerry Chee today, no doubt Jeffrey Kitingan has been fighting for Sabah rights ever since the formation of PBS in 1985. He can be our chief minister.
In fact, anybody within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leadership can be the next CM. There's no right or wrong. If one garnered enough support from the state assembly, then he/she is the CM.
If Jeffrey assumes the office of CM and his performance proves unsatisfactory especially not fulfilling the rights of Sabah and Sabahan, we have the right to elect other successors. As of now, GRS is pursuing the rights, thus, we committed to it together with Jeffrey.
PBS is always open to working together with all parties that fight for Sabah rights which is the core course of PBS’ struggle. This is proven by our memorandum of understanding with Star which resulted in the formation of Best, comprising both party leadership and a consultative council.
We are organising a joint Christmas celebration for the public this Dec 25 at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association.
PBS’s focus is to ensure the implementation of MA63 led by Joachim Gunsalam who also sat in the technical committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Fadilah Yusof.
ALBERT JUMITIH is Inanam PBS Youth chief.
