LETTER | I am compelled to write this article in light of the recent developments engulfing my beloved party.
I have been a DAP member since 1986, long before certain ministers today joined the party.
Names such as Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh, P Patto, and veterans of their ilk were not just mere names but embodiments of the strife and struggle that we ordinary Malaysians had to go through to ensure justice and fairness were given to the majority of Malaysians.
Many of them, including Lim Guan Eng, the current chairperson, went to jail not once but multiple times as they held true to their principles of justice and fairness.
I have seen in close quarters the sacrifice and struggles that these veteran leaders and the current chairperson had to go through.
Many young leaders today enjoy the perks, benefits, and luxury that power showers unto them. Their position denotes many opportunities to benefit self, family, and friends.
Have they once wondered what got them here today?
The decades of building the party, the blood, sweat, and tears are lost on this current generation, so much so that they glorify treachery to maintain power, fame, and position.
True fighters love their enemies, but traitors are a very painful lot.
Imagine you nurture a child, guide them, and this political protege of yours betrays you, the party, and the community.
If he can do that in a flip of a coin to Guan Eng, who stepped aside to coronate him to the peak where he is sitting now, it won’t take him long to sell the party to the highest bidder.
When the party loses the faith of its loyal base, it will be burned down the abyss.
Just look at MCA. They only have two seats as a result of compromising with Umno all these years. Their community was fed up with the compromising, weak leadership.
Dare I say, if these young traitor turks take over, DAP will not just be bootlickers of Umno but the community will be held ransom to all these racial and religious fanaticism that is currently being spewed by irresponsible miscreants.
DAP needs Guan Eng. Malaysia needs Guan Eng.
We need a fighter who goes to all extremes to fight for justice and fairness.
We don’t need traitors who want to sell our party’s struggle and the future of our community for power and money.
Out with Brutus!
