One of the most vicious ministers in Malaysian politics is Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz. With blatant contempt and disrespect of human rights and democracy, he condemned the Nov 10 protesters who were demanding a fair and just election as "psychos" and "gays".

This anti-gay bashing tirade and hatred of true democracy and of broader human rights shows his true colours and primitive attitudes. It is also typical of many Malaysian politicians from both the ruling elite and capitalist class. By unjustly labeling protesters as "pondan", the Malay word for "homosexuals", "transvestites" or "coward", it could mean "If you are homosexuals or transvestites, you are fundamentally cowards!"

This particular minister has been investigated for corruption some years back. Somehow the case has been silenced or closed, typical of many corruption or criminal cases involving top politicians, civil servants, police officers or almost everyone from the top elite and capitalist class.

Furthermore, this is the same minister who condescendingly lied through his teeth when replying unexpected questions from critical-thinking students about poverty and environmental destruction in Malaysia during the annual brainwashing propagandistic visits to young students overseas such as at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland in 2006.

His deceitful reply was something to the effect of "There are no poor people in Malaysia and the government will never destroy forest reserves for mass logging or plantations, especially for palm oil."

This is why Malaysians, especially those from the ordinary class like us who believe in true social justice, are waking up to critical consciousness and activism to struggle for true freedom, equality and democratic rights. We will go on resisting this extremely corrupted, coward and vicious government in whatever way we can, in small or grand ways.
