I think its about time that Umno take up the challenge and see itself as a party not only for Malays but for all Malaysians. The politicians must grow out of it. We just can’t say that BN component parties must win over the non-Malays and leave it to those component parties to deal with it. This is not it!

As the backbone of the ruling coalition, Umno should take up and speak of all matters for the good of all Malaysians. Our real competitors are out there, tackling globalisation and competitiveness among others and these should be our main focus.

To build Malaysia as the leading, progressive, modern, forward-looking country that provides a vibrant and cosmopolitan environment for locals as well as for investors from other countries.

The current internal bickering is just too much. I mean, it is as if we still stuck at 50 years ago arguing about rights, race, religion, pig-rearing, temples, schools, etc. It’s really tiring.

Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam are all coming up very strongly. It will be sad to see 10 years down the road a Vietnam that is way ahead of us. We have so much potential in terms of people and resources.

Yet somehow we can’t utilise these effectively. I mean we can go far - who knows - even surpass Australia if we put our hearts together. We can't afford to lapse this time (we already losing out to Taiwan and South Korea) otherwise we will pay dearly in the future.

Whatever political platforms that can leverage on this feeling will be very appealing.
