Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad has challenged Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein to prove if either PAS or PKR members were involved in the ‘cow head’ protest and commotion that erupted at a public dialogue last Saturday.

He said this in response to Hishammuddin’s claim yesterday that residents who are Pakatan Rakyat members had also objected to the proposed relocation of a Hindu temple to Section 23, Shah Alam.

NONE “As far as Shah Alam PAS is concerned, I have never seen them (at party gatherings) before. But if he (Hishammuddin) has any evidence that says they are our members, show it to us so we can expel them from the party,” stressed Khalid when contacted.

If they are Pakatan members, said Khalid, both PKR and PAS would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against them.

“Maybe they have been members for many years. We can find out if their names are on our record, that is if we know their names.

“However, I would personally recommend that the disciplinary committee expels them for having an attitude that is inconsistent with party principles.”

hishammuddin hussien and bn Yesterday, the home minister had claimed that the ‘cow-head’ protest had involved involved members of the opposition as well as Barisan Nasional (BN).

He said the Home Ministry knows the number of PKR, PAS and BN members involved in the protest and would divulge the information “when the time is right”.

‘Will Umno act as well?’

Hishammuddin, as an Umno vice-president, should act against party members who were involved in the protest and the chaotic public dialogue, said Khalid.

“If he wants to show that he is serious about this, then he too should be serious about respecting other people as they always praise racial unity and 1Malaysia. And to show that seriousness, of course he should take immediate action against these people.”

He also said Pakatan leaders would accept the fact if their members are charged under the Sedition Act, if they were involved in the protest.

“But Umno should not provide protection for its members,” Khalid added.

In a related development, 12 protestors are to be charged tomorrow with sedition and illegal assembly, according to Selangor police chief Abdul Khalid.
