MCA president Ong Tee Keat today filed a police report against Bintulu parliamentarian Tiong King Sing for allegedly lodging a false report against him.

NONE In a posting on his blog, Ong pledged to give his fullest cooperation to the authorities regarding this case.

"Last week I was called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in their investigations over the police report lodged by Tiong.

"I reiterate my commitment towards transparency and accountability and will not waver in my pledge to get to the bottom of the Port Klang Free Zone issue," he said.

On Aug 26, Tiong - who is also the Barisan Nasional backbenchers committee chair - had filed the police report, accusing Ong of cheating.

The Sarawak tycoon turned politician claimed that he had given Ong RM10 million to finance MCA activities. He also alleged that the money did not end up with the party as intended.

Ong denies the allegations again

Commenting on this, Ong once again "categorically denied the baseless allegations."

"I did not receive the money from him. His police report was malicious and clearly intended to smear me in my personal capacity as minister of transport and MCA president. In fact, I have already filed a RM500 million defamation suit against him," he said.

The MCA president said he decided to file the police report in order to further clear his name and defend his integrity.

Previously, Ong had claimed that the allegations were part of a grand plot aimed at toppling him.

Soon after this, the party's presidential council endorsed the disciplinary committee's decision to sack his nemesis and deputy Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Chua was given the marching orders after he was found guilty of tarnishing the image of the party with regards to his sex scandal.

Both Tiong and Chua have denied being involved in a pact to oust the president.
