Sacked MCA deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek today warned party president Ong Tee Keat to stop slandering him or face legal action.

Chua's main contention is Ong's claim that he would form a new political party .

"If Ong continues to claim that I'm forming a new party, I will sue him in no uncertain terms... I don't want him to spend his retirement in court," said Chua, pointing out that the president is already facing a slew of court cases.

Speaking at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today, a vexed Chua blamed Ong for originating the allegations of him joining a new party, adding that he was the "grandfather of nonsense".

To stress that he has no party at heart other than the MCA, where he has spend about 20 years, he said merely wants his party membership reinstated so he can retire from politics as a MCA member.

Chua, despite being out of the party, has his supporters teaming up with Ong's enemies to hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) soon.

The EGM aims to over-rule the party leadership's decision to sack Chua and pass a no-confidence vote against Ong.

On the EGM, Chua said he has personally seen documents bearing the endorsement of at least 1,200 central delegates to call for the meeting, sought by an ad-hoc committee

Rooster head dare

However, he could not reveal when the documents will be submitted to party headquarters as the matter would be decided by the committee's main coordinator Tan Chai Ho.

"He is a devout Buddhist. He wants to choose the right date, time and right number of delegates before submitting the documents... To him, that is the winning combination. I can't question his beliefs," said Chua.

He pointed out that he cannot be involved in the calling for an EGM as he is not a party member, but wants naysayer to stop claiming that the committee doesn't have the required numbers to requisition an EGM.

"Whoever that doesn't believe me can challenge me to go to the temple and cut a rooster's head," Chua darred, referring to a form of Chinese ritual to prove his truthfulness.

Meanwhile, referring to the protracted feud between the two since their election to their respective posts in October last year, he placed the responsibility on Ong.

Chua said he had openly stated that he wanted to work as a dutiful deputy but Ong refused this offer and instead decided to go on the warpath and eventually sacked him.

"It has never been my intention to be president. He knew that. If I wanted, I would have stood against him. I thought he was the best person to lead MCA, but not anymore.

He then listed his rival's faults as failing to unite the party, creating animosity and fear instead, adding that currently, the party is at the lowest ebb as revealed by the past eight by-elections.

Ong the ‘crusader'

Chua said Ong's many troubles was due his being the "mother of all yes men" and being surrounded by questionable advisors.

"Today, he is surrounded by ‘yes men'. That is the problem. In the newspapers, it is the same people who are talking... One says ‘A' and the others say ‘Saya sokong!' while others keep quiet," he said.

Asked about the Cabinet decision to takeover the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) probe, Chua said the reason Ong had made it his "personal crusade" to investigate the matter.

"He is trying to portray himself as an anti-corruption crusader," said Chua, who blames Ong, who is the transport minister, for not keeping the PKFZ probe as a ministerial matter and instead started milking it for political advantage.

Chua argues that Ong's reputation has already been tainted, because of his apparent cozy relationship with Tiong King Sing, the owner of contractors Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd, the developer of PKFZ.

"I have no links with Tiong. He said he has no links but then he has taken Tiong's private jet five times. Chua Soi Lek never got the chance (to get on the plane)," exclaimed Chua.

On this note, Chua pointed out that Ong will be stuck with the infamy of being the first MCA president to be called in by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for investigations.

"To Ong, he is not tainted. He is whiter than white. Nothing can touch him," Chua.
