Ousted menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin threw a challenge at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak: Call for fresh elections to turn the present 2Perak into 1Perak to lend substance to his 'people first-performance now' slogan.

"Najib must first unite the pr dap mooncake festival 031009 nizar esent 2Perak into 1Perak before he talks about the 1Malaysia slogan. It was he who had engineered the collapse of the Pakatan state government by encouraging three Pakatan assemblypersons to defect to BN," he said angrily.

"As a result, instead of a united Perak government we have now a divided two state governments, two menteri besars and two state assembly speakers."

The ousted Pakatan head of government said the onus is now on Najib to rectify the political mistake he had made in Perak and order (BN Mentri Besar) Zambry Abdul Kadir to seek the consent of the Perak Sultan to dissolve the state assembly and call for fresh state elections, he added.

Nizar was speaking at a Deepavali function organised jointly by DAP Ipoh Barat and DAP Taman Loke Lim here last night.

The other two VIP speakers at the function were DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran.

Nizar told the 200 odd-crowd that Najib had the cheek and the nerve in wanting to use Perak as his launching pad for his so-called 1Malaysia national theme after creating political instability in the state.

Slogan and reality don't match

"As such he (Najib) should not step into the state after causing so much pain and anxiety among Perak-ians who had voted in the Pakatan Rakyat state government," he said.

Najib is expected to launch his 1Malaysia theme national celebrations at the Ipoh Indra Mulia Stadium on 8pm on Sunday.

"Najib's 1Malaysia slogan is hollow as he continues to divide and rule Malaysians, especially the Indian community," said Nizar.

He urged the Indian community to support and vote in Pakatan Rakyat to federal level.

Lim Kit Siang in his speech stated that Umno BN during their 52 years of rule had always treated the Indian community as the underclass and suppressed their democratic rights to a share in the country's economic cake. dap 2010 budget rocket cafe 071009 lim kit siang 01

Lim ( right ) told the crowd that two years ago he had advised S Samy Vellu to address the economic grouses of the Indian community but the MIC president did not heed his advice.

Lim also took a swipe at Najib's 1Malaysia theme, describing it as an empty slogan which is not serious in bringing together the various races as 1Malaysians.

He challenged Najib to give more preference to the 1Malaysian concept and secondary importance to the Malay race.

Indians advised - think deeply

"If Najib accepts my challenge then I am prepared to also give importance to the 1Malaysian concept and treat the Chinese race as second. Likewise Kula will follow suit and Indians will become secondary," he said.

He also repeated the accusation that the failure of the New Economic Policy was due to enriching the cronies of Umno at the expense of the Malay community, dap education roundtable meeting 111006 m kulasegaran a majority of whom are still not enjoying their share of the economic cake.

Kulasegaran ( left ), addressing the crowd told them to think deeply as to why Najib is taking a sudden so-called interest in the welfare of their community.

"Do not be influenced by his (Najib) sweet words as his political agenda is to divide and rule the Indian community as has been done for the past 52 years."

This is seen by his encouraging the growth of more Indian parties in the country to further divide and rule the community, he added.

Kulasegaran's reasoning is that Najib realises the fact that the Indian vote can play the key role in areas where the Malay and Chinese electorate are divided and hence a disunited Indian community will work to his advantage.

He claimed that Najib is continuing the divide and rule policy of former premier Mahathir Mohamad who had split the unity of Sabahans by encouraging the birth of more political parties there during the 1980s.

Kulasegaran urged the Indian community to take advantage of their voting power to enhance their long term economic and social standing rather than fall into the short-term trap of handouts that Umno BN is famous for at every election.

He dared Samy Vellu and the MIC to field candidates for the next general election in the Indian majority areas of Buntong and Ipoh Barat, both considered Pakatan's strongholds.
