vox populi small thumbnail 'We Malaysians salute LG Jayanthi Naidu for her bravery in coming forward in the Lingam tape case. But we are scared that she may suffer the same fate as private investigator P Balasubramaniam.'

Lingam case: Opposition presents 'key witness'

Mohamod Nik: We Malaysians salute LG Jayanthi Naidu for her bravery in coming out. We all know the MACC is a ‘gone cause' but we are scared that she may suffer the same fate as private investigator P Balasubramaniam.

Cala: What I see is a systemic malfunctioning of governmental machinery incapable of doing the simplest tasks expected of them. Unless there is a conspiracy to conceal the truth as otherwise, why is VK Lingam not brought to court and charged with treason?

Mob1900: Please close down the MACC as it has proven to be ineffective and unable to perform its public duty. Sack the de facto law minister who interprets the laws of the land according to his own whims.

Soapbox: Jayanthi, if you remember the custody case involving VK Lingam's sister-in-law in 1997 - Sivajothi K Suppiah -v- Kunathasan Chelliah - then please brief R Sivarasa on what transpired.

Specifically whose dirty hands were are involved in obtaining the ex-parte judgment in a certain judge's High Court in Shah Alam. And please take your stand till the end.

The whole country is pinning their hopes on you to reform the judiciary.

Kanesin SVS Sappania Pillay: Jayanthi, a word of caution. Please be careful for there are many ‘Houdinis' who can make you disappear.

Private investigator P Balasubramaniam has gone MIA (Missing in Action). Please do not trust anyone, including the MACC. We have to be extra careful. Take care, God bless you.

Lingam is not 'legally clean'

Ngawangjimpa: There is just no political will by the government to take all those implicated in the Lingam's case to court. In the process, we see a despicable erosion of the power of the judiciary and the impregnable power of the executive.

Take me on if you dare: Zulkifli to Sivarasa

GreenBug: My family and I will gladly quit PKR if Anwar Ibrahim do not sack this renegade Zulkifli Nordin by Dec 31, 2009. And that's not even a threat.

Geronimo: Hey, Zul, please read our lips - ‘We don't want you. You are a real liability. Please resign'. You can't get anymore simpler than this.

SusahKes: Zulkifili, don't you realise that most Pakatan Rakyat supporters - ie, the rakyat - don't want you in PKR/Pakatan any longer? Why don't you save everybody some time and get out of PKR and join Umno?

We will see you at the next general election. Dear Anwar Ibrahim, I'm sorry I have to say this but we are facing this crisis today because PKR didn't deal with Zulkifli from Day One. Don't wait any longer - sack Zulkifli. Otherwise, he is your peril.

Lucia: Zulkifli, you said that PKR is a party which defends, upholds and fights for Islam and the rights of Muslims. Are you sure PKR is for Muslims only? Not for non-Muslims?

This Zulkifli is an extremist. Zul, go and form your own party - a party that fights, defends and upholds Islam and the rights of Muslim. Go on, don't rely on PKR.

JIM: Non-Muslims can enter mosques

Mohd Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: To the Muslims, Allah is the one true God, the creator of all things, yet Umno through the relevant ministry confiscates bibles simply because they incorporate the name ‘Allah' and forbid Christians to worship Allah albeit in their own way.

The Holy Quran strictly forbids insulting the deities of others. It even commands that Muslims should entice and appeal to non-Muslims towards Islam with the leave of their Gods.

Yet Umno defends the cow-head protesters. Islam advocates the oneness of humanity notwithstanding race, creed or religion. It reaches out to everyone through its noble teachings.

Yet, Umno acts with hostility at the very thought of non-Muslims even visiting our places of worship. Despite all this, Umno self-proclaims itself to be an Islamic party using the same nonsensical and lame line of argument.

Target: Broadband penetration to go up to 50% by next year

Yuvan: Why all this fancy talk? The government can increase the broadband penetration to 50% or 80% and can even boast to increase it to 100%. But the question is, broadband penetration at what speed?

I am a 4G service subscriber paying RM99 every month. And I am getting peanuts from the service provider. It takes about five minutes to download a page containing text and simple graphics and 10 to 15 minutes to upload a similar page!

At such ridiculously slow broadband speeds, Malaysia can be sure of reaching developed nation status not in the year 2020 but may be a hundred years later. What is the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) doing about broadband service providers shortchanging their subscribers?

Instead of the MCMC wasting its time and resources on some unwarranted issues involving news portals and blogs, it should concentrate on doing regular and thorough checks on these broadband service providers and hauling them up for providing shoddy and unreliable services.

MCMC should duly penalise them for non-compliance.
