The chief executive officer of Kelantan Chief Minister Incorporated (PMBK) has denied that the sacking of a prominent official was linked to an ongoing probe into the organisation.

NONE Mohd Ariffahmi Abd Rahman said corporate liaison officer Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz was instead sacked for disciplinary reasons.

"He doesn't come to the office, nor does he report to me. He never applied for leave nor did he produce a medical certificate," said Mohd Ariffahmi. "So, we decided that we don't need such a person in PMBK."

Mohd Ariffahmi, the son-in-law to Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat (left) , was recently questioned twice by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The MACC's investigation is believed to be over alleged financial irregularities in PMBK. Mohd Ariffahmi confirmed several financial documents were seized during the investigations.

Syed Azidi's sacking seems to be shrouded in mystery, although he suggested in a blog entry on Monday that it was related to the MACC probe.

Better known as ‘Kickdefella' or ‘Sheih' among the blogging community, the politics surrounding the nature of his sacking has stirred considerable interest online.

Mohd Ariffahmi told Malaysiakini Syed Azidi's sacking was not done in haste but was referred to Nik Aziz first, as he chairs PMBK.

Azidi: I report to Husam, not CEO

On the removal of Syed Azidi's office space last year, Mohd Ariffahmi said this was done because the former had been absent from work for a long period of time.

Instead, he said all parties should clear the way for MACC to conduct a proper probe on PMBK.

On allegations that he was not reporting to Mohd Ariffahmi, Syed Azidi said this was not part of his contract. "I report directly to (state exco member) Husam Musa," he said.

"This is clearly stated in my contract. My portfolio is also subject to Husam's discretion. Ariffahmi is not at a level to know my job scope.

"To me, Kelantan PAS and the state government don't want my role to be exposed," added Syed Azidi.
