The DAP today took to task the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for lodging a police report against Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand.  

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said this was the first time in Malaysian history that accusations had been made against a pathologist for carrying out his or her duties.

NONE "I am surprised to find out that the MACC is lodging a police report against Dr Pornthip ( left ) who is just here to work for the truth,"  he told reporters in Penang.

Yesterday, two MACC officers lodged police reports at the Shah Alam district police headquarters against Suara Keadilan - the organ of PKR - and Pornthip over an article in it which allegedly said the pathologist had confirmed murder was the cause of death of Selangor political aide Teoh Beng Hock, who had been questioned by the MACC.

Lim added that the action by the MACC would be seen as an act to put pressure on the pathologist to cover up the truth.

On July 16 last year, Teoh, 30, the political aide to Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found  dead on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after he had given a statement as a witness on alleged misuse of allocations for state assemblymen in Selangor, at the MACC office located on the 14th floor of the same building.

The coroner's inquest into his death is ongoing.
