The police believe the stone-throwing incident at the Lutong Good Shepherd Church in Miri on Sunday, which left several window panes smashed, was initiated by delinquents.

    

NONE Sarawak police chief Mohmad Salleh said the police had not receive any more reports on church attacks in the state and the situation was under control.

"It was the work of naughty boys and not religious extremists," he told reporters after a monthly Sarawak police contingent assembly in Kuching today.

All houses of worship under surveillance

Mohmad said he ordered his officers to leave their telephone numbers with church officials to enable quick action to be taken in the event of any untoward incident.

He said the police were keeping all houses of worship, including churches and mosques, under surveillance.

Since Friday, eight other churches have come under attack in the Klang Valley, Perak, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan.
