A police report accusing Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar of criminal defamation and criminal intimidation was lodged by DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh.

NONE Karpal, who is a renowned lawyer, filed the report with the Perak police headquarters in Ipoh this afternoon.

The report concerned the police chief's statements with regards to DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over his remarks pertaining to deceased DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

Lim is currently being investigated for his remarks, which have been classified as seditious.

Karpal, in his report, stated that although Khalid on Jan 15 denied that the police had threatened to arrest the chief minister, he however said the police chief had confirmed that a statement was recorded from Lim on Jan 9.

A copy of the article dated Jan 16 in the Star was enclosed with the report.

Report against MACC officer

Meanwhile, Karpal also filed another police report against Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) senior officer Raub Ghani.

NONE The DAP leader accused Raub, who is attached to the MACC investigation branch in Putrajaya, of lodging a false police report against Thai forensic expert Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand ( left ).

On Jan1, Raub filed a police report against Pornthip after an article in PKR party organ Suara Keadilan claimed that the second post mortem revealed that Teoh was murdered.

Another MACC officer Hisham Mohd Yusoff lodged a police report against Suara Keadilan on the same day.

However, the PKR newspaper later clarified that its source of information were officers from the Health Ministry.

On Friday, Pornthip a vital witness in the Teoh inquest, was cleared by Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail of any wrongdoing in allegedly leaking her second autopsy report.

Karpal stressed that Suara Keadilan’s disclosure and the AG’s clearance clearly suggested that Raub had lodged a false report.

Copies of both the police reports were made available to the media this evening after the DAP national convention in Ipoh ended.
