The Malaysian Human Rights Commission today announced that it would be continuing with its public inquiry into Internal Security Act detentions this Monday.
"The inquiry panel will be led by Harun Hashim, Suhakam vice chairperson and will be assisted by commissioners Prof Hamdan Adnan and Asiah Abu Samah," a statement from Suhakam's secretary Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria said today.
Suhakam's open inquiry into ISA detention began on June 18 in the Taiping Prison's Sports club in Perak and ended two days later after the inquiry team spoke to 17 witnesses and also to officials from the Kamunting Detention Centre.
The inquiry this time is expected to call upon witnesses from the police force whom many of the witnesses have complained of being abused by during the initial 60 days under police detention.
It would also be held at the human rights body's headquarters in Menara Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.
When contacted Kamaruddin did not specify how many witnesses would be called or how long the inquiry would be going on for.
