Perak PKR claims that Pakatan politicians who jump ship to support BN as independents are committing `political suicide' as they have betrayed the trust of their voters.

State PKR information chief Zulkifly Ibrahim told Malaysiakini today that these elected representatives have betrayed the trust of their voters for their own personal gains.

NONE "They will be initially handled by BN with kid gloves but eventually they will be dropped like hot potatoes during the general elections as BN does not want to antagonise the angry voters who will not vote for them," Zulkifly ( left ) reasoned.

"Do you think that BN or the voters will trust the political morality of such turncoats? Umno will want to play safe and field its own party members during elections."

He pointed out that the status of three Pakatan assemblypersons who resigned from their DAP and PKR state seats to become independents friendly to BN was now rather uncertain.

Their move saw the collapse of the Perak Pakatan state government but it appears that whatever high expectations they had did not seem to being fulfilled by BN.

Zulkifly, who was also the former state PKR chief, said that the recent spate of PKR elected representatives resigning from the party to become independents was due to Umno's aim of destabilising PKR.

Short-sighted

He said many PKR members were recruited from Umno without proper vetting and now the party is suffering for its short-sightedness.

"Some of these members left Umno when their political demands were not met and joined PKR hoping to reap a bigger political harvest but when it did not happen, they again jumped back to Umno," he reasoned.

Assemblypersons Mohd Radzhi Salleh (Lunas), Badrul Hisham Abdullah (Port Klang) and former Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin (Penanti) were the next to leave, followed by MPs Zahrain Mohamad Hashim (Bayan Baru) , Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal) and Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri (Bagan Serai).

Salehuddin Hashim, once PKR secretary-general, left the party in January.

Pakatan MPs PKR Zulkifli Noordin (Kulim-Bandar Baru) who is facing the party's disciplinary panel for his role in the `Allah' issue and Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong, who had joined defectors Zahrain and Tan in criticising Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, might also be on the way out.
