MCA today slammed the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) for interfering in the administration of the MCA Hall and its refusal to grant land titles to 135 houses and in Desa Kuala Garing, Rawang.

MCA Selayang division chief Tang See Hang said Desa Kuala Garing was a resettlement area for residents of Kampung Garing to make way for the Rawang River diversion project in 2006.

"The development of the area (Desa Kuala Garing) was approved by MPS in 2006, whereby 135 houses and a hall were built, while the original village residents would get a free house each.

"However, on March 10 this year, we received a notice from MPS to surrender the administration of the Dewan MCA and the keys to it without stating the concrete reasons for this," Tang added, here, today.

He said MPS also refused to approve land titles for the houses although according to the original agreement in 2006, the development project in Desa Kuala Garing was approved by MPS itself.

Protest note

    

In the notice, MPS gave 14 days for the MCA to hand over the administration of the hall and the keys to it, otherwise enforcement action would be taken.

Following this, Desa Kuala Garing MCA chairperson Kee Sai Heong lodged a police report on March 25 against MPS, alleging that it had contravened the law.

"We have also issued a protest note through our lawyers because we feel that MPS' attempt to encroach on the hall was wrong," said Tang.

"As a local authority, MPS should follow the law and not try to encroach on the premises if its demand was rejected."

Tang said if MPS failed to reply to the protest note and encroached on the hall, they would take legal action.
