Gerakan is blaming the Kedah government for the resignation of Bakar Arang state assemblyperson, Tan Wei Shu from the PKR yesterday.

NONE In a statement today, Kedah Gerakan chairperson Cheah Soon Hai said that Tan's ( left ) departure was due to his disappointment over PKR's ‘insignificant role in the PAS-led government'.

"There is no love among the three partners who are exploiting each other's strength and the cooperation is not permanent as their ideological differences and goals are worlds apart," he said.

Terming PR as a marriage of convenience, Cheah also accused Kedah PAS of refusing to listen to the views of other PR component parties and administered Kedah like a one-party government.

"The Kedah government did not focus on development, but gave priority to introducing Islamic policies in the state," he said.

NONE Cheah ( right ) pointed out such instances where the Kedah government had introduced a 50 percent housing quota for Bumiputra and demolished the state's only pig abattoir in Alor Setar.

The new quota policy has since been reverted following howls of protest from NGOs while a new site for the pig abattoir was promised after DAP threatened to quit the state government.

Tan was dropped from the state exco for allegedly not being up to the mark in the performance of his duties.

 His departure is the third from PKR in Kedah, with the two others being Lunas state assemblyperson Mohd Radzhi Salleh and V. Arumugam who vacated the Bukit Selambau seat.
