S'gor MB to meet Kapar MP on graft allegation
Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will meet Kapar parliamentarian S Manikavasagam tomorrow in relation to the latter’s allegations of corrupt activities involving state-linked company Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB).
Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will meet Kapar parliamentarian S Manikavasagam tomorrow in relation to the latter’s allegations of corrupt activities involving state-linked company Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB).
The menteri besar's political secretary, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said in a statement the meeting would allow Manikavasagam to formally convey to Khalid his allegations of misappropriation among senior officials of KSSB and consequently find an action plan to ensure that the company was free of corrupt practices.
KSSB, a company involved in the sand and minerals industry, is wholly owned by Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI).
"The Selangor government would like to reiterate that it upholds transparency and accountability in its administration and will support any effort to fight graft at all levels.
"The state also views Manikavasagam’s allegations seriously and will consider all his proposals to address the matter," said Nik Nazmi, adding that the outcome of the meeting would be announced after the weekly meeting of the state executive council tomorrow.
Manikavasagam had suggested that the Selangor government form an independent body to investigate his allegations.
Yesterday, two officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) went to Manikavasagam's office to record his statement on allegations of corruption in KSSB.
However, Manikavasagam did not surrender any document to the MACC officers, citing distrust in the MACC's ability to conduct investigations as a reason for his decision.
