Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim will be able to keep his date with the powerful parliamentary rights and privileges committee at 11.30am tomorrow as planned.

Anwar's press secretary Eekmal Ahmad when contacted, said they themselves are not sure of what will be required of Anwar by the committee.

"We will only know when he meets the committee tomorrow," he said.

Anwar had earlier questioned the date picked for the hearing, saying it would coincide with his slot to speak in the Dewan Rakyat.

“I will ask that the committee picks a date that will not affect my speech and (opportunity to) debate,” said Anwar, who is also the Permatang Pauh MP.

Anwar will be required to explain his remarks linking 1Malaysia with the One Israel concept after being referred to the committee by the BN-led federal government.

He had alleged that Israeli-linked public relations firm Apco Worldwide was the real brains behind both 1Malaysia and the One Israel campaign.

Anwar has formally requested the speaker to hold the proceedings as a public hearing, and to allow his lawyer to be present.

He has further asked for permission to submit names of witnesses to be called, but also wants the committee to provide a list of its witnesses.

Both are part of a list of 'requests' included in a letter submitted to the speaker today.

Evidence to back claims

 Anwar has said he has evidence to back up his claims.

He had earlier produced his evidence in Parliament when asked to answer for the claims but was still referred to the committee after his explanation and evidence were dismissed.

The evidence was in the form of two contracts, one allegedly signed between Apco and the Israeli government and the other between the firm and the Najib administration, witnessed by Najib’s press secretary.

The contracts, Anwar claimed, proved that Apco was working for both governments and was responsible in advising the governments on the 1Malaysia and One Israel respectively.
