Absurd to pay another RM700 mil to Kuala Dimensi

vox populi small thumbnail 'If they had allegedly overcharged, why need to pay them more? It's illogical, senseless and smacks of cronies ganging up to suck more of the rakyat's money.'

PKA to make RM700 mil decision next week

Alan Goh: Another RM723 million ‘vapourising' into thin air... no wonder there are so many millionaires under the Umno/BN government, provided you have the right connections.

Let's recap: PKFZ - RM12 billion, two Scorpene submarines - RM7.3 billion with RM570 million of ‘commission' paid to Perimaker, Bakun dam - RM1 billion... In Malaysia, nothing comes less than billions when in the past it was only millions.

Idris Jala, do you still believe it is the subsidies that is going to bankrupt Malaysia by 2019?

Jiminy Qrikert: If Port Klang Authority (PKA) pays Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB), it is the rakyat who will lose when KDSB vaporises the money well before the outcome of the court cases.

But the PKA board will get off scot-free as there will again be a couple of unfortunate scapegoats to take the fall (or maybe fortunate due to the payout they will receive for volunteering to be scapegoats).

And there is every reason PKA will pay because the Treasury will instruct them to pay. The Treasury will do so on the instruction of the government. And the government will do so because it is being led by a person who mindlessly, insensitively, callously, uncaringly blows billions to buy two useless submarines, millions to send a tourist to space, poohs-poohs the billion that PKFZ has lost and bribes people for votes.

Kgen: What is the point of all this useless ‘sandiwara'? I have no doubt in my mind that PKA will pay up without a whimper for the sake of ‘investor confidence'. The money doesn't belong to Kuala Dimensi (KD), it is to pay the bond holders.

KD has already taken billions from the bond market long ago and has already enjoyed the money. They have taken their payment in full.

Sarawakian: If they had overcharged, why need to pay them more? It's illogical, senseless and smacks of cronies ganging up to suck more of the rakyat's money. So who are the corrupt politicians who are pressuring the government to pay, pray tell?

Revive 'crooked' bridge plan, says Johor sultan

Clear Soul: What everyone has failed to see in the crooked bridge project is whether it actually benefits Malaysians. The current causeway was built a long time ago, in which cargo ship cannot sail through.

Do you remember when Singapore rejected the crooked shape and Malaysia insisted on going through even at on our own expenses? Singapore started to reclaim land near Johor, hoping to shallow the water in the Strait of Johor because they know that if the project were to carry on and once completed, the old causeway will have to be torn down. This will be their greatest fear.

Cargo ship will be able to go through the Strait of Johor. Why the Strait of Johor? Because it can cut one day of sailing. And Tanjung Pelepas and Gudang Pasir ports charge far cheaper than Keppel port. Everyone will dock in Johor and use land transport to Singapore to save themselves millions. This will create a lot of job for Johorians.

Singaporeans are not stupid. Their actions tell us that the crooked bridge is of no benefit for them but a huge benefit for us Malaysians. Luckily we got the World Court to stop them for reclaiming land towards the Johor side.

So now my fellow Malaysians, the crooked bridge is a good idea, it's just about to who and how the contract was awarded and the awarded price. That should be our argument, not the idea of the crooked bridge.

CarL: The ‘scenic bridge' will force Singapore to also participate in the project, however the infrastructure on both sides must also be upgraded. As for the ships bypassing Singapore and sailing in the Tebrau straits, I believe that the size of ships would be limited and small in size, and this would not greatly effect Singapore's position as the gateway.

The reason for this, if I am not wrong, is that the ships that matter need deep water, and Singapore still provides the best option.

Ferdtan: We view all speeches and statements from royalty, however beautiful they may sound, cynically. I used to love reading beautiful speeches made by the Perak royalty, especially by the prince, but now we know better. They were just words.

I even remembered reading the inspiring speech made by the present Perak sultan when he was installed as ruler, where he talked about the fall of government due to corruption. Now we know better - action speaks louder than words.

AJ: We really don't need this bridge or a new Causeway or another straight or crooked one. This is not about what is good for the people but how a group of companies that belong to the Johor sultanate pick up on the contracts.

Take note that Dr Mahathir Mohamad is using his tactics to put pressure on Najib Razak through the royalty on this issue so that he can make good the promises he made to certain quarters.

40 young ulama join Umno but Asri a no-show

Joe: Promoting gambling on one hand and recruiting clerics on the other. A supermarket selling products from religion to vice. Umno must be losing its constituency rapidly to need Vincent Tan and supernatural support.

While the ulamas are at it, they can start converting the Umnoputras so that they may repent from their opportunism and deception. What is more likely, though, is that when clerics walk in the way of sinners, it's the wicked who will corrupt the good.

Faz: They are very naive to think that they can change Umno and make it toe the line according to Islam, when 53 years of ‘dakwah' to the party has failed to reform Umno. Wishful thinking, but good luck. May Allah give all of you ‘hidayah' (guidance) not to succumb to the religious compromises of Umno.

Kama Mustaffa This is one of the signs of the Last Day. In the name of religion, they will destroy the religion.
