Umno rep uses Catholic joke to praise Zahid's political wisdom
UMNO AGM | A Selangor Umno leader today used a Catholic-themed joke to illustrate the importance of political wisdom while praising party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's leadership.

UMNO AGM | A Selangor Umno leader today used a Catholic-themed joke to illustrate the importance of political wisdom while praising party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's leadership.
Speaking before thousands at the annual general assembly, Sepang Umno chief Noorazli Said recounted a joke about a priest driving a manual Proton Saga who spotted a nun waiting at a bus stop and offered her a ride home.
But every time the priest changed gears, his hand would brush against the nun's thigh, and he would leave it there.
Each time this happened, the nun reminded him to recall Psalm 129, prompting the priest to withdraw his hand.
Upon reaching home, the priest checked the Bible to see what Psalm 129 actually said, only to realise that it was not what he had assumed.
"Do you want to know what Psalm 129 says? ... Go forth and seek further up and you will find glory," Noorazli (above) said at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre during the debates on Zahid's policy speech.
The line, which is a variation of a joke sometimes circulated in Christian circles, does not actually appear in Psalm 129.
Noorazli then explained that the story was meant to convey the importance of staying focused and knowing what one wants to achieve.

BN’s 2018 defeat
He had earlier referred to a speech Zahid gave to party members following BN's defeat in the 2018 general election.
Noorazli said Umno members were demoralised by the coalition's massive electoral loss and ashamed of the social stigma associated with being an Umno member.
At the party's AGM following the loss, Zahid had told members that Umno would rise again and lead the government by the end of the parliamentary term, Noorazli said.
"It was illogical. At the time, we and the delegates felt that maybe the president had a little trouble with accepting the loss," he admitted.

However, the first Pakatan Harapan government was toppled through the so-called Sheraton Move, and the administration that followed, led by Muhyiddin Yassin, eventually lost majority support.
Amid the political crisis, Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob received sufficient backing to become the ninth prime minister, which Noorazli said fulfilled Zahid's vow.
After delivering his jest, Noorazli said party members had initially assumed Zahid's policy speech at this year's AGM would be "just another speech".
"But this time, the president's speech truly proved that this is the next prime minister we should endorse in the upcoming 16th general election," he added.
He described Zahid's "Malaysia Biru" vision and his ideas for charting the nation's future as something young Umno members had not expected.
"This is the political maturity that we young people hope for - guidance, a direction that we need to follow," he said.
Why bother with an apology from him? He doesn’t mean it sincerely anyway. Let the record show that this is just part of his character.
"Sepang Umno chief Noorazli Said recounted a joke about a priest driving a manual Proton Saga who spotted a nun waiting at a bus stop and offered her a ride home. But every time the priest changed gears, his hand would brush against the nun's thigh, and he would leave it there." Noorazli Said you are saying this in public. How will you react if someone makes a similar regarding your prophet? Will you treat it as a big joke?
Shame on Malaysiakini in the first place for publishing such a pointless and trashy article which started the controversy. For Malaysiakini to refer to a debauched comment by a Muslim politician as a "Catholic joke" is blasphemous and disgraceful. Malaysiakini is mocking Christians by claiming it is a joke in some " Christian circles". Lasciviousness is a sin in Christianity. Jesus stated that even looking upon a woman with lust in your heart is equivalent to adultery. Malaysiakini also owes Christians an apology. The supposed quote from Psalm 129 is fake, making the inanity uttered by Sepang UMNO Chief Noorazli even more idiotic. How it has anything to do with " the importance of staying focused and knowing what one wants to achieve '' boggles the mind. If anything, it probably reveals Noorazli's subconscious desire to " seek up further and find glory " in women's skirts. Malaysiakini must not allow itself to be a vehicle for debauched Muslim politicians to insult the Christian faith. Vulgarity and sexual debauchery has nothing to do with the Catholic faith and to talk glibly that such a sexually themed joke is extant in some Christian circles is false attribution. Malaysiakini is contributing to racial and religious division in Malaysia and the fall out proves it. Let us just do a small experiment to show that Malaysiakini is biased and is not protective of other religions as it is of Islam. How would Muslims react if a DAP Christian leader was addressing a party congress and told a similar joke about an Imam who was driving a car and giving a lift to an Uztazah seated in the passenger seat next to him? The same scenario occurs with the shifting of the gears and hands on her thigh with each gear shift. The Uztazah mentions al Baqarah Verse 223 from the Quran each time his hands lands on her thigh prompting him to remove it. When he goes home he reads the said verse: " ...Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish..." The difference in this joke is that it is a true quote and not a fake one which the depraved Sepang UMNO leader quoted supposedly from Pslams. As Dr Akmal stated, the reaction would be furious in Muslim circles. I would add that that it would likely spark violence and fire bombings as DAP MP Ngeh experienced following a reaction to a comment of his related to Islam. Malaysiakini should not ride roughshod over non-Muslims just because the State is not sensitive to their religious feelings. The fact that Noorazli has yet to be arrested and charged for incitement and religious insult is proof of the double standards. We know non-Muslims were given custodial sentences in the recent past over jokes over the "Allah socks " scandal which Dr Akmal himself exploited and said there should be no acceptance of apology for the jokes. We expect the same treatment for Noorazli if the constitutional guarantee of equality before the law applies in Malaysia.
